Throughout the week-end and every day since we are hearing just how much the public enjoyed it.

This is an example of the comments coming in, we really appreciate knowing that it lived up to our aims, we are still learning and know where we can improve but all feel that the event is achieving something that will grow and develop. why not think about helping next year?

Really enjoyed the day and taking part.

This is the only workshop I do for free and I'm happy to do it for Fair Intents because of the values of the festival and because of the way it really supports and involves local people and organisations.
Well done on all your hard work – its an incredible achievement so I hope you're having some well earned rest now!

We did it again!

Thanks to all the brilliant people who gave up their time and energy to help us put on two great days of fun, games, music, playing, learning, eating, drinking, dancing, watching, joining in or just observing.

The attendance was over double that of last year and there were far more things to see and do. Some were rather unplanned, like the straw bale seating that became at first a den and soon a mountain of straw that kept dozens of children happy for the whole two days. Who needs a bouncy castle when they can make their own fun with such a natural resource to feel, smell, throw themselves about in completely safely enjoying nature.

We have a lot of work to do now before we have completed the details for the event and there will be photos up soon.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE.

Global meditation

There is a global meditation for peace on Saturday and we hope to join in for half an hour at 3pm to co-ordinate with others around the Country. Check out our Meditation tent and speak to Richard.

Tickets are selling steadily for the Ceilidh, still some left but please call to secure some if you havn't already, tell your friends and join us for an evening of dance or just come and enjoy the atmosphere of a moon, solar and lantern lit meadow with Fairtrade and local beer, wine and authentic Asian (veggie) curry.

Big Lottery Fund

Paul Jones, Big Lottery Fund Head of the Yorkshire and Humberside region, said: “The Awards for All programme offers small grants that can make a huge difference to local communities and the lives of those who live in them. People of all ages and backgrounds will be brought together by the Fair Intents festival, increasing their awareness of a range of environmental issues while enjoying an exciting programme of arts, crafts and culinary workshops. I’m delighted that BIG is supporting the festival in this way and wish all involved every success for the months ahead.”

Paul from Craven College confirmed today that along with the pole lathe wood turning, stone carving and plaster casting that they are also bringing a mobile forge!

These are all traditional crafts and you can either just watch or have a go yourself, come and ask questions and maybe you will want to sign up for classes.

Awards for All

We are extremely grateful to the Lottery funding from Awards for All that we have received for Fair Intents this year. We were not really supposed to say anything yet until they do a press release for the region but as it will be the day after the event we are allowed to talk about it. ;o)

Funding for everyone has been drastically cut this year by the Government and all the groups we know about are suffering as a consequence. We are therefore thrilled that we were given the opportunity to hold Fair Intents for this second year and hopefully can raise sufficient funds to build on and continue to have an annual event. The difference from most other festivals is probably the lack of commercial stalls, the fact that it is free entry and the majority of activities encourage participation and are also free.

We request a donation and by doing this we hope that you will have such a good time that you do want to give freely. This way no-one is prohibited from participating and spending the day, or even hopefully two with us.

See you there!

2 weeks to go!

In less than two weeks, we will be preparing the field and erecting the tents. We have had mixed weather in Haworth today but recently have enjoyed lot's of sunshine.

The meadow is in a beautiful location with the wild moors on one side and the atmospheric graveyard on the other, we are looking forward to the Saturday evening event with an authentic Asian veggie curry and a very British Ceilidh band.

All this and a licenced beer tent with Fairtrade and local beer, Branwell would have loved it!

Fair Intents at the Great Yorkshire Show

Lot's of interest in our event from the many hundreds of people at the GYS last week. Although this is a community event for the Haworth and surrounding area, it is attracting attention from further afield partly because of the location, the wildflower meadow at the Bronte Parsonage. No other events are held here and we are making sure that we maintain the strict ethos of respect for people and planet. It may not be the biggest ecofair around but we are a focused friendly bunch and you are sure to enjoy the week-end.

This year we are having a Curry and Ceilidh on Saturday night, limited number of tickets (available soon) also a bar with local and Fairtrade beer, so dig out your dancing shoes!

2011 event taking shape

It's all going on here behind the scenes and we are working hard to bring a variety of activities to the event in September.

Most of the participants who came last year will be joining us plus many more.
